People are constantly amazed every time Gary Miller hits those incredible sub-bass notes.  This past Saturday evening as soon as Gary hit his usual low note the hands on the first three rows started flying.  We were very honored to have a large group of deaf people from the Lubbock area attending the concert at Monterey Church of Christ.  (The lower the note the more it can be felt.)  The audience was captivated with VU’s ministry of music, which showed in their excitement and energy.   Of course, adding to it was all the shout-outs from Gary Evans!  It was really awesome to see him there.

On Sunday morning we had the privilege of worshiping at Oakwood Baptist in Lubbock.  People entered into a worship experience with VU throughout the service.  After service, VU went into the deaf chapel and sang to the deaf while I interpreted.  Then VU experienced a group of deaf people singing (signing) for them!  The deaf played a CD.  There was a large sub-woofer in the middle of the room.  You could feel the music everywhere.  The deaf pastor’s wife, who is hearing, sat on the front row to interpret the lyrics for them while they performed the song on stage.  It was a very moving moment.

On Sunday afternoon we traveled to Clovis, NM.  There was an outdoor concert at Kevin and Michelle Schaffer’s church.  Many people came with their lawn chairs and enjoyed the music, the weather, and worshiping our God together.  One song that really touched me a lot was “Only One.”  Being outside, the lyrics seemed even more meaningful.  We also had the pleasure of Kevin singing Brother Taylor with VU.  He is the one who sang it on the album "The Vocal Union" 11 years ago.

We all left Clovis at 9:30 p.m. Sunday evening.  I just arrived home about 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon.  The guys drove all night and are still on the road.  They are hoping they will be home by about 7 p.m. (That is around 20 hours of driving!!!)  I am constantly awed and amazed by the dedication and commitment these guys show in serving God and reaching out to others.  I am truly inspired and uplifted every time I go out on a weekend with them.  They are a true example of being a servant of God.
